Note:

1. Confirm Thunderbolt 5/4/3/USB4 Port Availability
Make sure your computer has a Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 port. All Apple computers released in 2015 or later with Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 ports are compatible. For Windows computers, those released after 2016 with Thunderbolt 5 or USB4 ports will also work.

2. Choosing an SSD
We have tested dozens of SSDs to ensure that our customers can find the right one for their needs. We recommend the Samsung 990 Pro/980 Pro, Western Digital SN850/SN850X, and Crucial P3 Plus.

3. Formatting the SSD
When using the SSD on macOS, you can choose either Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or APFS (whichever is faster for your needs). For Windows, select NTFS. If you want to use it on both systems, choose ExFAT (make sure to format it as ExFAT on macOS).

4. Data Backup
Please back up your data before using the SSD enclosure. If you encounter any issues with product quality during the warranty period, customer service can assist with device replacement; however, we cannot provide data recovery services or cover losses due to data loss. We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.

FAQ

Q1: What device interfaces does it support?

The Basic version is compatible with Thunderbolt 5/4/3, USB4/3.2/3.1/3.0. Please note that it doesn't support PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSDs.

Q2: The TB501Pro has a black button that indicates the fan. What does it do or do I have to activate it or when do I activate it?

Regarding the fan on the TB501 Pro:
Manual Control: This black button is used to adjust the fan. You need to press and hold the button for one second to turn the fan on. Press it again to turn off the fan.
Smart Temperature Control: The TB501 Pro features an intelligent thermal management system that activates the fan automatically when the internal temperature reaches a certain threshold, even without pressing the button.
This dual-control system (manual and automatic) ensures optimal cooling while maintaining efficient operation.

Q3: Why is my 2019 Intel MacBook Pro's Thunderbolt 3 port connected to the TB501Pro only getting 10Gbps speed?

The compatibility of Thunderbolt 3 computers with Thunderbolt 5 interfaces is not that good. They will be automatically classified as USB channels if they are not compatible. In this case, we recommend you use Thunderbolt 3 hard drive enclosures if you use Thunderbolt 3 computers. A Thunderbolt 3/4 40Gbps hard drive enclosure will be faster if the USB channel is recognized.
